For the Valley

About SBC

Getting Out There to serve the hurting, empower the Church, and reach the lost.

Like the spreading branches of a tree, we desire to continue our 60-year legacy of reaching wide with the love of Christ to bring life and hope to the world around us.

For the Valley is a faith-filled vision to:

  • Bring hope and help to foster kids and families in our city.

  • Partner with likeminded churches to support their ministry.

  • Open new campuses in neighborhoods where our people live.

Our Next Campus

We’re thrilled to announce plans for a new SBC campus coming to Tempe, a pivotal step in our vision to become a church for the entire Valley! Our prayer is to complete renovations and open the doors to this campus in Fall 2025. If you are already a part of For the Valley initiative, thank you! If you are new to this vision, we want you to be able to take part in this exciting effort to bring the hope of Jesus to both ASU students and our neighbors in Tempe, Mesa, Gilbert, and Chandler!

Coming Fall 2025

News & Highlights

  • We now have an active Foster, Kinship and Adoption Ministry to support SBC families who are adopting or caring for foster kids or children of relatives in their homes. We host Parents Night Out and other fun events to build community.

  • Volunteers are serving in countless ways at Gigi’s Cottage, providing gift baskets, meals, and more.

  • Skilled staff and volunteer teams are engaging with the local church community to get to know leaders and determine how we can help meet needs. More than $800K has already been given to churches who have met the qualifications and are impacting Christ’s kingdom.

  • We are laying the groundwork for our next campuses, clarifying organizational needs, and exploring communities where we might take our next steps. Our first campus as part of For the Valley, SBC Fountain Hills, opened in April 2022 and is flourishing in their community!

  • SBC developed a partnership with Firm Foundation Youth Homes and now supports their group home for girls, Gigi’s Cottage. Nine girls, ages 7-18, are currently living in the home and mentored by trained staff and caregivers. Your giving is providing staff support, covering repairs, and meeting practical needs.

  • During the Christmas season, we hosted events on each of our campuses for kids and families impacted by foster care. We joined with several ministry partners to invite children, parents and staff to celebrate with us, enjoy a meal, and receive gifts donated by our congregation.

  • Nearly 900 people have attended our “Finding Your Place in Foster Care and Adoption” events to discover how they might get involved, and volunteers are being mobilized.

  • For the Valley support of Royal Family Kids Camp, a summer camp for foster kids, allowed 76 kids and 91 volunteers to participate. We also supported the Teen Reach Adventure Camp where 60 foster teens enjoyed an amazing camp experience.
