Vision
We have a church of God designed “Display Case” reflections of Christ’s relationship with the Church.
In depth, our vision is that every believing couple in our church be exposed to the fullness of God’s view of marriage and the roles that husbands and wives each have in marriage. With God’s grace, every couple will have the training and tools necessary to become godly men and women who impact their families, the church and the community with Christ’s love. Evidence of doing this well will be that the divorce rate within our community plummets; living together will come under the plan and purpose set forth in the scriptures in marriage; an increasing number of joy-filled marriages will be apparent throughout the church.
Mission
Our mission is to provide the most effective training and tools to educate, encourage and motivate couples to grow in their individual walks with Christ and to draw closer to the concept of “divine us” that God gave as the foundation for marriage in Genesis 2. This will be accomplished by recruiting, nurturing and supplying our marriage team with the best tools available so they may transfer that care and training to other couples. An ongoing plan is to “give ourselves away” to the larger community.
Ministry Structure
The Marriage Ministry team is organized into five pillars – supported by a base of prayer and fellowship. Those pillars found on the left of our main web page are Marriage Preparation (includes Weddings), Education and Enrichment (Includes Small Group Studies [GYM class], First5, Life Questions Answered, Service Opportunities, and Suggested Reading), Couple Care (includes Marriage Proactive, Marriage911 triage and Pray for Our Marriage), Marriage Investors (Mentoring) and Outreach.
We work collaboratively with all Scottsdale Bible ministries to those dating, those divorced and those about to marry, so that individuals moving toward marriage have a jump-start on what Christ-centered marriage is about. The five pillars of the Marriage Ministry will:
- touch those preparing for marriage or remarriage with classes, one-on-one interviews and mentoring
- provide couple-to-couple mentoring for couples who understand the value of, and desire a mentor
- present marriage enrichment opportunities and regular small group studies to challenge and help married couples grow
- provide access to more than 2500 life questions answered by gifted professionals in their field
- work together with the Counseling Ministry to give hurting couples an opportunity for healing help
- give assistance to the Outreach Ministry to provide marriage care to our missionaries on furlough and in the field and to help churches internationally establish their own Marriage Ministry
- take marriage classes to those who want and need the materials and training we can provide
Our Marriage Ministry is led by a hand-chosen group of volunteers many of whom have served for more than a decade. Each of the five marriages pillars is upheld by prayer and the community atmosphere that has developed around these dedicated couples. Each pillar of the ministry is led by those gifted and trained for their area, and supported by other dedicated believing couples with that common desire to serve and see strong marriages.
