Serve as They Come

The people also gathered from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing the sick and those afflicted with unclean spirits, and they were all healed. –Acts 5:16

The work of the Holy Spirit was so profound that people throughout the region were bringing their sick and afflicted so that they may be healed. Even Peter’s own shadow was sought after. Through this, God added to His Church and more people became believers. The hope of God drew the hopeless world to Himself.

Because recent events have stripped the world of its self-reliance, people are desperately seeking hope. When we look at Acts 5, we see the people of God serving those around them and, in their service, others came to Christ. Are we the “city set on a hill” (Matthew 5:14) Christ called us to be? This is a perfect time for us to serve others and show them that true hope is in Christ! It is a field ripe for harvest and we just must be there. This week, let’s find places we can serve the hopeless. Whether it is a neighbor down the street or a room full of people, you will be the brightest light in the darkest places because of the Gospel and Holy Spirit. Be the light and get out there!
