God is Always Good

In the midst of injustice and violence in the nation of Judah, the prophet Habakkuk laments to the Lord and cries out for Him to intervene. When God responds and explains His preparation of the Babylonians to be His instrument of justice, Habakkuk protests the virtue of God’s plan to use a wicked and powerful nation to accomplish His purposes. God assures the prophet that justice will come both to Judah and to Babylon and “the righteous shall live by his faith.”

God is provident, even when we don’t comprehend His plan. God is good, even when we don’t desire His answer. Do you believe these truths? How is your trust in the Lord when His plan for situations in your life and the world do not match your desires? Reflect on these questions today with the Lord and discuss them with others in your family or Zoom group. Read Habakkuk 3:17-19 and see how he turned to rejoicing in the Lord despite an uncertain future and pray for faith to do the same.
