For Such a Time as This

A few weeks ago, schools were still in session, we were approved to buy a house, looking forward to spring break, and I was able to walk into Costco and leave with everything on my list. A few weeks ago, most of us had never heard of the terms “social distancing” or “flatten the curve.”

Fast forward and now many of us are faced with losing our jobs, schools closing indefinitely, church gatherings moved online, the stock market taking a dive, and we can’t find the basics at the grocery stores. And then I read the following this morning on my calendar: I’ll be prepared. I’ll be courageous. I’ll be persistent. I’ll remember what I’m here for. I’ll spread the Good News every chance I get. Till Christ comes back. It’s what my Lord asks of me. It’s what I’ll do.

This isn’t about security with our finances, our homes, our food, or our comfort. This is about loving others in a time of need. Now more than ever, we are all in this together. Jesus came so NO ONE would perish. Let’s start the text string to check in on neighbors, mail a care package to the elderly, donate money to a single parent who can’t make their rent. Let’s ask the Lord to lead us to serve those in need. The options are endless! Maybe we were made for such a time as this. – Esther 4:14
