For 60 years, SBC has been a church focused on sharing God’s truth and grace with the people of this Valley.

We are a community of Christ followers who strive to be known for unwavering faith and unconditional love. We value transformational Bible teaching, engaging worship, authentic community, and service-based outreach. And we are on a mission to win people to faith in Jesus Christ; build them up in their faith; and send them out to be “winners and builders” in their spheres of influence.

We express our values and mission by encouraging one another to Get God through a relationship with His son Jesus, Get Real in authentic community with others, and Get Out There to serve our neighbors and impact the world with the good news of Jesus.

Dear friends,

Celebrating a 60-year anniversary is quite a milestone, and I’m so thankful for God’s evident hand upon this church over the years. Having served as your pastor for the last 15 years, I recognize the commitment, sacrifice, and faithful service of so many who have gone before me. By God’s grace, SBC is continuing to build a legacy and we have many reasons to celebrate.

This report shares some highlights of 2022 including a recap of the significant new vision God gave us called “For the Valley.” Birthed out of our rich history of outreach and service to our community, this vision focuses our sights on some specific areas where we sensed God leading us to make a difference. We are taking steps to address the foster care crisis in our city, support under-resourced churches, and reach new neighborhoods—like Fountain Hills, where we launched our newest campus in 2022.

As always, we’ve shared some key numbers and facts in these pages. While numbers certainly aren’t everything, they do provide some insight into how God has been active in and through us this year. And I’m continually reminded that each number represents a person, a story, and a changed life.

Thanks for your prayers, encouragement, and partnership. I hope reading this report inspires you to rejoice in how God is moving—on our campuses with our children, youth, and adults, across our Valley, and around the world. May we continue to be a church that draws the world around us to find hope in Jesus our Savior as we worship and serve Him together.

Your pastor and friend,

JAMIE RASMUSSEN
SBC SENIOR PASTOR

We always thank God for all of you and continually mention you in our prayers. We remember before our God and
Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.

–I Thessalonians 1:2-3

The beginning of a vision being carried out today

In 1962, our church began with 30 people meeting in a home for worship. They soon called a pastor and after gathering in various locations, purchased five acres on McDonald Road in 1965 and built the first church campus. God blessed their ministry, and in 1974, they took a huge step of faith and purchased 20 acres in the far north region of Scottsdale at Miller and Shea. In January 1979, the first services were held at the new campus. In these early years, God set the stage to do something great for His glory. He provided the godly leadership, land, and resources to build a campus, and He placed us in a one of the fastest growing cities in the nation. With a commitment to reach the community for Jesus, Scottsdale Bible Church flourished as we prioritized excellence in worship, strong Bible teaching, and service-based outreach.

Ten years ago, God gave us a vision to extend our ministry across the Valley by establishing new multisite campuses with a campus pastor, ministry for kids and adults, live worship, and video streaming of the Sunday teaching. We added SBC Cactus at 25th Street and Cactus Road in 2012, and now in 2022, we have four physical campuses and a new online campus.

As we celebrate our 60th year as a church, we honor the foundation set by those who had the “assurance of things hoped for, and the conviction of things not seen” and found God faithful. It has been a journey of faith, and today our family continues to grow, witness changed lives, and build a legacy for the next generation as we are sent by God to the Valley and around the world.
