Scottsdale Bible Church is governed by an elected board of Elders who volunteer their time to oversee the leadership, ministry, and activities of the church. Working in conjunction with SBC’s pastors and guided by the Holy Spirit, the Elders ensure the mission and ministries of the church are consistent with biblical directives and principles. The Board also approves the annual budget and supervises the disbursement of funds to support the ministries of SBC.
The men who serve are selected and interviewed by an elected nominating committee and then presented to the current Elder Board and eventually the members of SBC for affirmation by a formal vote. These men are members who have participated in leadership at SBC and have an exemplary reputation for being of honorable Christian character and integrity, possessing the biblical qualifications stated in Titus 1:6–9 and I Timothy 3:1–7. The nominating committee seeks to recommend men of various ages, ethnicities, backgrounds, and skills or expertise, so that they can effectively represent and serve the congregation of SBC.
Elders serve four-year terms and are eligible for renomination after at least one year has elapsed from the end of their current term. Terms of approximately one-fourth of the Elders expire each year. The Board is composed of at least 12 and no more than 20 voting members.

Tim Kimmel
Tim was raised by humble parents who had a deep and devoted faith in the Lord. He put his faith in Jesus at a young age but really committed his life to Him in his teenaged years. Around that same time, he met a girl named Darcy who had recently given her life to Jesus, too. They ultimately married and ended up having four children. Those kids are all now married and have given them nine grandchildren to love (so far). When Tim graduated from Dallas Seminary, he and Darcy moved to Arizona to become Scottsdale Bible’s first staff youth pastor from 1976-1980. Although he’s spent most of his ministry career speaking and writing books on Christian marriage and parenting, he and Darcy continued to attend and serve at SBC. Tim taught the Faithful Families class for 12 years. He’s also been a featured teacher at the Timothy Leadership Training, the SBC Men’s Ministry, First Five, and Common Ground. He’s also filled our pulpit on Sunday mornings many times over the years. Tim is the Executive Director of Grace Based Families.
