Vessels of God’s Power

Wow! Crazy days. Scary days….and I would add, “exciting” days. What a day to be the Church! There is no better time than now to help people Get God, Get Real, and Get Out There. The passage that has been on my mind all week is from the book of Jeremiah, where God through His prophet reminds His people of what He has against them:

…for my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, and hewed out cisterns for themselves, broken cisterns that can hold no water. (Jeremiah 2:13)

Simply put, this passage is saying that we have all we need in God…and yet, when the first hint of trial comes our way, we fight to take control. This often leads us to disregard God because “reality” is getting in the way. But, be reminded that the best you can come up with is “a broken cistern that can hold no water.” God’s plan for us never changes. He reminds us to abide in Him (John 15), and to trust in Him (Proverbs 3:5-6). 2 Peter 1:3 reminds we who know Christ… “His divine power has granted to us all things…” We have the power of almighty God within us!

This means that while the world faces our current trial by getting in line to buy toilet paper, we are looking for ways to help others find toilet paper. It doesn’t mean we don’t feel concern. It means we take our concern to the Lord. We pray and ask God how we can be His vessel to accomplish His purpose in the lives of others for such a time as this.
