Receiving Grace

So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls. –Acts 2:41

The church was born on the day of Pentecost. Thousands heard Peter’s sermon and accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. In this majestic moment, the people of God were mobilized in their mission to bring hope to the nations. Thousands of people from all over the known world heard the uneducated Galilean apostles speak in tongues, each hearing his own nation’s language. Then Peter stood up and gave a powerful sermon to the nations. He declared Jesus as Lord and offered them the opportunity to accept Jesus. As we see in the text, “those who received his word” were saved.

In busy times like these, it’s easy to be distracted by fear or anxiety, dismissing the good because we only see the bad. In all of this, God is continually speaking to His people and the world. Are you receiving God’s grace daily? Are you cut to the heart (Acts 2:37) like the members of the early church? Our gracious God sent His Son in deplorable times to save broken sinners. Today, let’s take some time to listen and receive His grace. Let’s be quiet. Let’s pray. Let’s Get God.
