More of God

The Lord descended in the cloud and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the Lord.  The Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and the children’s children, to the third and the fourth generation.” And Moses quickly bowed his head toward the earth and worshiped. (Exodus 34:5-8)

When was the last time you desired more of God? Think back to what it felt like to desire more of Him. At SBC, we speak often about Getting God, but each time I think about what it means to Get God I’m struck by how it looks in different seasons of my life. Sometimes it looks like me learning to trust Him more. Other seasons are about me surrendering some new area of my life to Him.

For Moses, this is the moment, I believe, that he Got God more than any other time in his life. Yahweh passed by Moses and declared His name, effectively telling and showing Moses who He was, is, and is to come.

What is God showing you about Himself in this season? Ask God today to show you a new side of His character, and I promise you won’t be disappointed.
