Loyalty

The dictionary defines loyalty as, “giving or showing firm and constant support or allegiance to a person or institution.” Loyalty that is in short supply today has been demonstrated historically (and perfectly) in Jesus, as well as in the chain of gospel relationships that have resulted in you receiving Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Being loyal today is a matter of TRUST:

  • Team up – Everything you accomplish as a Christian is strengthened by teaming up (Ecclesiastes 4:12).
  • Run the relay – You’ve received work to do and the work doesn’t end with you (2 Tim. 2:2).
  • Understand the partnership – As one of many ambassadors of Christ (2 Cor. 5:20), value others and together strive to fill your roles with excellence (John 4:37).
  • Share your burdens – Bear one another’s burdens and be transparent about your own struggles (Galatians 6:2-5).
  • Tether to the same anchor – In an age where excuses to divide and betray abound, remember that our unity in Jesus expressed as love for each other sets us apart (John 13:35).

Amidst fickle relationships, unwavering loyalty is both counterculture and revolutionary. As you remain loyal to the people in your life, you point others to the faithfulness of Jesus Christ.
