Joy Has Power

There is a little known but fascinating Bible story in 2 Chronicles 20. The nations surrounding Jerusalem had declared war. Their leader Jehoshaphat and all the people were terrified. But here is how they responded to fear:

  1. They asked God for guidance.
  2. They kept their minds focused on God by remembering the ways He was with them in the past.
  3. They declared the battle to be God’s.

I know many of us are feeling some significant fears, but can we follow these steps as well?

The last thing they did was go into battle with JOY as a weapon. The army led not with skilled archers or with armor-clad soldiers…they led with a choir singing praises to God. Their weapon was worship and proclaiming the name and power of God.

In these times, can we follow this amazing example of how to fight our fear? Let’s ask God for guidance, remember what He has done, declare the battle is His, and use joy and worship as a mighty weapon against the enemy.
