Courage for Frightening Times

We aren’t born courageous, but we are conditioned to be fearful. We must be trained to overcome our fears. Courage is often defined as strength in the face of pain or fear. To truly have courage in frightening times, you must have courage that comes from God.

A courageous HERO in frightening times is:

  • Heavily armored. God has covered you for your spiritual battles. (Ephesians 5:11-13)
  • Eternally secure. God has anchored you for your spiritual battles. (Romans 8:38-39)
  • Reliant on God. God fights for you in your spiritual battles. (1 John 4:4)
  • Ordained and trained. God appointed you to win your spiritual battles. (2 Tim. 1:7-9; Col. 1:29)

Because of God’s great love and provision, you can take courage! You can have mastery over your fear. Face your fears rather than fleeing from them. In doing so, your convictions are affirmed and not betrayed. True courage is God’s courage, evicting cowardice from your options of responses. As God fills you with His courage, your ambitions are aligned with His, and your conduct is calibrated to follow the Spirit in the fearless work He is accomplishing every day. Take courage!
