Be In Constant Prayer

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. –Philippians 4:6-7 ESV

The last couple years have been particularly challenging for me, and this year is shaping up to be the same. During this quarantine, God has me re-examining my prayer life. If I’m honest, I’m not good at prayer. My thoughts drift and I’m certainly not in a posture of privilege of coming before the Throne.

How do we daily go deeper and stronger in our prayers? Look no further than the life of Jesus. He prayed before He ate, for the sick and dying, in the desert, in the garden, and He prayed alone. The picture is becoming clear–pray always. Romans 12:12 says, “Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.”

Thank You, Heavenly Father, that we can come before You any time and You hear our prayers. Thank You for all You have done, for what You are doing now, and for the things You will do in the future. Thank You that we can never be separated from the love of Christ (Romans 8:38). We don’t know what the future holds, but we know that You, Father, hold our future (Jeremiah 29:11), and we declare this every day in the Name of Jesus. Amen.
