Team picture outside the church in Colón
Sunday was another relaxed day as we prepared and rested for our trip to Colón. We spent the day with our host families, then went to the evening church service at Iglesia La Puerta Abierta. Following the service, we had dinner as a team while we waitied for the bus to take us to Colón; we departed at 1:00 a.m. for our 6 hour bus ride.
For the most part, the guys did the manual labor, while the girls prepared some crafts and activities for the kids in what they called “Dia de Amigos!”. We brought bags filled with soccer balls, plastic toys and other toys to share with the children. The entire team did an outstanding job with their work today. Among the cementing, picking up trash, moving/shoveling rock, laying concrete, etc, the team accomplished it all with a great attitude, and with their hearts in the right place.
Here is the list of projects we completed:

Girls spreading cement

Guys shoveling sand
- Fill-in what will be the foundation for a new room
- Break-up and remove an old concrete pathway
- Re-concrete the pathway over an area
- Cement an external wall
- Clean trash from an elderly home

Dia de Amigos
Watch this video below of the guys shoveling rocks to be used to pour concrete.
