Neighborhood Ministries
Neighborhood Ministries serves Phoenix’s poor, caring for their physical, emotional, mental and spiritual needs. The Neighborhood Center provides food, clothing, teen parenting classes, summer camps, tutoring and mentoring programs, crisis assistance, leadership programs, and a myriad of other life-transforming activities. We serve over 1000 children, youth and families each week through a variety of programs. We need many volunteers serving in a variety of roles to operate our ministry so please contact us to help make a difference in this community.
Our programs:
- Kids Life: a weekly outreach every Monday night to over 300 children in K – 12th grade providing a positive, safe, after-school environment, with food and recreation.
- Education for Life: incentive based education and mentoring program for K – 12th grader that includes an onsite Head Start program and Fast For Word reading program.
- Barrio Works: hands-on workshop where youth learn craftsmanship skills such as bike repair and woodworking. The youth obtain knowledge useful for jobs in trade professions.
- Moms’ Place: offers expectant teen and single mothers access to resources, parenting and problem resolution skills.
- Jeremiah Project: case management and a variety of financial literacy, job readiness training and character development services to adjudicated youth.
- Parent Volunteer: provides opportunities to parents in the community to volunteer earning points that can be turned in for necessary goods for their families.
- Church at the Neighborhood Center: a bilingual community church in which whole families come together to learn and worship.
- Food and Clothing Bank: provides food and clothing to families in need.
- Neighborhood Christian Clinic: provides medical and dental healthcare services to uninsured members in the community.
