Along Side Ministries
- Arizona has 13 prison facilities and over 35,000 men and women incarcerated.
- Our national prison population is growing 10 times faster than the general population growth with over 2.5 million people currently incarcerated.
- Arizona has one of the highest per capita incarceration rates in the nation with over 16,000 men and women admitted to the Department of Corrections every year.
- Over 1,900 are released homeless each year! Prisoners are often released with only a $50 check and the clothes on their back.
- Federal Justice Statistics indicate 82% of those released from prison are rearrested within four years. Christians are only 20 percent more successful than the general population!
The men and women who exit prison each year face huge barriers to their re-entry into society. Their immediate needs include safe housing, jobs, transportation, food, clothing, spiritual counseling and financial guidance. Our ministry is designed to support these men and women while they are incarcerated and help them make a successful transition back into society upon their release.
