Europe
Religion
Millions of Europeans profess no religion or are atheistic or agnostic. The largest non-confessional populations are found in Sweden, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, and France although most former communist countries have significant non-confessional populations. The rate of decline of Christians is accelerating. The most popular religions of Europe are Catholic 33.10 percent, Orthodox 19.96 percent, Protestant 9.24 percent, Muslim 5.09 percent, Unaffiliated 4.91 percent, and Anglican 3.54 percent. Many of the Christians in these percentages have no meaningful involvement with church life.
People
Europe’s ethnic diversity include Slavic 31.6 percent, Latin/Romance 29.4 percent, Germanic 24.8 percent, Finno-Ugric 2.9 percent, Turkic 2.4 percent, Greek 1.6 percent, Celtic 1.5 percent, other 2.1 percent (Middle Eastern, Asian, Caribbean, African). There are 269 indigenous languages to Europe.
How you can pray
- Pray for continent-wide revival; the church in general has lost the younger generation.
- Pray for a return to relevant biblical theology, preaching and lifestyle; liberal theology has spiritually crippled the Protestant mainline denominations.
- Pray for Holy Spirit inspiration, innovation and faith for growth in the 21st Century.
