David Walther, Pastor of Counseling

david_walther David is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a master’s degree in counseling psychology and Christian studies.

David currently is pursuing a master’s of divinity degree. He has been on staff at Scottsdale Bible since 2000.

He provides marriage, family, child/adolescent and individual counseling. David loves the adventure of following Christ with his wife, Sharon and their children, Simeon and Naomi.

Nonie Maupin

Nonie is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with her master’s degree in social work. She is also certified as an Approved Clinical Supervisor. She has practiced as a staff counselor for Scottsdale Bible Church since 1995. She provides marriage, family, child/adolescent, and individual counseling.

Nonie also authored a book called The Head to Heart Card, which reflects her passion to teach others to have a Truth encounter with their Savior, Jesus Christ. In her free time she is an avid reader, loves to hike with friends, and spends time with her family.

Nonie and her husband, Joel, have been married for 44 years, and they have two married children and five grandchildren.

Kerry Failoni

Kerry recently completed her Master’s in Professional Counseling and is a Licensed Associate Counselor.

She and her husband Keith have called Scottsdale Bible their church home since 1981. She had the privilege of joining the Scottsdale Bible counseling staff in 2001 as the Intake Coordinator and Case Manager.

She also provides individual and marriage counseling. Her free time is spent with family (two daughters) and friends. A good book is also never far from her reach!

Rachel Bauer, Office Manager

Rachel joined the Counseling Center staff in March 2008. Rachel’s desire is to use her skills and experience as an executive assistant to serve Scottsdale Bible Church and the surrounding community. She holds an associate’s degree in business.

Trained as a Stephen Minister, Rachel has served in the DivorceCare ministry at Scottsdale Bible for eight years, having been the team leader for the DivorceCare facilitators since 2002.

Rachel has four children and eight grandchildren and enjoys reading, flower gardening and spending time with friends.

Parents of Prodigals

Parents of Prodigals is an encouragement and support group for parents whose child has broken their hearts by rejecting family values and faith and is living a lifestyle of self-destruction. In a seven-week study based on biblical materials developed by Carol Nahm, MDiv., parents meet others with similar needs, share burdens, intercede in prayer, and celebrate successes in a small group setting. Handling the Difficult People in Your Life,” a video presentation series by Dr. John Townsend, will be the new study for the Wednesday morning Lean Not On Your Own Understanding support group beginning February 3. The group meets in E214 from 9–11 a.m. on Wednesdays. All women of the church and community are welcome to attend. For more information or to sign up for the class, contact Deedy at 480.471.0062.

The Who’s Pushing Your Buttons? series introduces an approach for reaching out to, confronting, negotiating with, and setting appropriate limits for the button-pushers in our lives. Button-pushers are those with whom we are in close relationship and have invested a great deal of time and emotion, such as a spouse, a child, or a parent. When we are at wits end and think getting out of the relationship is the only way to bring sense to our lives, this video series will bring encouragement and great hope for dealing with difficult people. This series will help us make changes in our lives that may result in deep and long-lasting changes in the button-pushers in our lives. (close)

In the emotionally-charged atmosphere of a marriage crisis, there is little thought given to the after-effects of a decision to separate or divorce. Choseing Wisely Before You Divorce helps you cut through the emotion to communicate a sobering picture of the consequences of divorce.
