Counseling

We are blessed in our community to have the Scottsdale Bible Biblical Counseling Center which is staffed with licensed Christian professionals and numerous trained Christian lay people reaching out to our church family and community in their times of need. We are a no-fee facility and confidentiality is one of our major priorities.

Mission

The mission of our Counseling Center is to glorify God and help others remove barriers that prevent a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. We provide professional counseling, lay counseling, Stephen Ministry, and a variety of support groups. This outreach of God’s love is for any individual who is hurting, both in the congregation and in the community.

Parents of Addicted Loved Ones (PALS) is an on-going education and support group for parents/spouses of a child or loved one who is suffering from problems with drugs, alcohol or gambling. Mike Speakman, a licensed substance abuse counselor, facilitates the group. (close)
Choosing Wisely Before You Divorce

Choosing Wisely Before You Divorce provides a reality check for those considering divorce. A realistic and stark picture of the impact of divorce will be presented through a five-week class. In the emotionally-charged atmosphere of a marriage crisis, there is little thought given to the after-effects of a decision to separate or divorce. Choseing Wisely Before You Divorce helps you cut through the emotion to communicate a sobering picture of the consequences of divorce.
Five compelling DVD sessions walk you through the effects divorce will have on key areas of your life: emotional, physicall, financial, legal, children and family, and spiritual. Call 480.824.7239 to register. (close)

In a seven-week study based on biblical materials developed by Carol Nahm, MDiv., parents meet others with similar needs, share burdens, intercede in prayer, and celebrate successes in a small group setting. Handling the Difficult People in Your Life,” a video presentation series by Dr. John Townsend, will be the new study for the Wednesday morning Lean Not On Your Own Understanding support group beginning February 3. The group meets in E214 from 9–11 a.m. on Wednesdays. All women of the church and community are welcome to attend. For more information or to sign up for the class, contact Deedy at 480.471.0062.

The Who’s Pushing Your Buttons? series introduces an approach for reaching out to, confronting, negotiating with, and setting appropriate limits for the button-pushers in our lives. Button-pushers are those with whom we are in close relationship and have invested a great deal of time and emotion, such as a spouse, a child, or a parent. When we are at wits end and think getting out of the relationship is the only way to bring sense to our lives, this video series will bring encouragement and great hope for dealing with difficult people. This series will help us make changes in our lives that may result in deep and long-lasting changes in the button-pushers in our lives. (close)
