Watoto Children’s Choir

Watoto means “the children,” and these children are on a mission. Through their inspirational songs and compelling stories, the Watoto Children’s Choir is spreading a message of hope for Africa’s children.

In 1994, Gary and Marilyn Skinner were moved with compassion concerning the critical orphan crisis in Uganda. As a result, Watoto Child Care Ministries was established as an outreach of Kampala Pentecostal Church. Today, Watoto is caring for over 1500 parentless children by providing physical, emotional, educational and spiritual care.

The goal of Watoto is to raise the next generation of Ugandan leaders by pursuing excellence in academic and practical skills, integrity in conduct and moral values, so that each child becomes a responsible and productive citizen.

The choir’s music and multimedia presentation is a soulful fusion of gospel and contemporary African style. Dressed in colorful costume, the children’s enthusiastic song and energetic dance has moved audiences world-wide.

Barry Asmus’ Economic Outlook

Dr. Barry Asmus, senior economist for the National Center for Policy Analysis, will provide valuable insight and answers to probing questions as he presents his Economic Outlook for 2009.

At this workshop, invited experts will address many economic concerns, including: budgeting, bankruptcy, credit card debt, foreclosure, taxes, insurance, money issues in marriage, and most of all, God’s provision. This workshop is open to our church family and local community, so please invite your friends and neighbors. The workshop is free; the truth is priceless.

Ordinary People—Extraordinary God

The Bible is filled with stories of very ordinary and human people who are used powerfully by God to carry out His purposes here on planet earth! People like: Moses, who couldn’t speak well, to be His mouth-piece to Pharaoh.; Gideon, who had trust problems, to lead the country in battle.; Elijah, who got massively depressed, to convict the leadership of sin.; David, who acted on lust in his heart, to be the greatest King in the Old Testament.; Hosea, who had a rocky marriage, to be a prophet.; Peter, who was impetuous and couldn’t keep a promise, to be a “pillar” in the Church.; Paul, who hated Christians and hadn’t made friends of them at all, to be the most powerful and persuasive missionary leader the first century Church ever knew. ;Mary and Joseph—who lived in an ordinary town and were everyday people—to participate in His redemptive plan for humankind.

Once you understand that God chooses to use ordinary people and that His redemptive Kingdom is still just as much alive as it was 2000 years ago, you can’t help but realize that God might want to use you as well!

All Church Work Day

Please help us spruce up the campus. We will, paint rooms, landscape and complete other maintenance and housekeeping projects to create a warm and welcoming campus for our congregation. Join us for an hour, two hours or all day for fun, hard work and fellowship. You will be given a task that will help the church and use your skills and talents in the time you have available. Food will be provided.

When Godly Men Doubt

There is a very important overriding theme of this passage—it’s one of the primary things going on here that affects many of us today in our walk with God. It is that even very godly men can struggle with doubt. The story is about the priest Zacharias and his wife Elizabeth. The passage says they “were both righteous in the sight of God,” and then it says they “walked blamelessly in all the commandments and requirements of the Lord.” Not that they were perfect, but they would absolutely fit the definition of the most upright, honest, godly person you know! Even so, when an angel appeared to Zacharias to tell him his prayers had been answered, he doubted. It should comfort us that if Zacharias doubted, then doubt may come to us as well. God, however, is bent on restoring those who doubt—back to faith in Him.
