Participation Agreement

In consideration for the opportunity to participate in the above activity, the Participant (or parent/guardian if Participant is a minor) acknowledges and accepts the risks of injury associated with participation in, as well as transportation to and from, the activity. The Participant (or parent/guardian) accepts personal financial responsibility for any injury sustained during the activity or during transportation to and from the activity. Further, the Participant (or parent/guardian) promises to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the activity sponsor or its agents, employees, volunteers, or any other representatives (collectively referred to hereinafter as the “Sponsor”) for any injury related to, involved in, or arising out of, directly or indirectly, the described activity (or transportation to and from the activity), whether such injury is the result of the negligence of the Sponsor or otherwise.

If a dispute over this agreement or any claim for damages arises, the Participant (or parent/guardian) agrees to resolve the matter through a mutually acceptable alternative dispute resolution process. If the Participant (or parent/guardian) and the Sponsor cannot agree upon such a process, the dispute will be submitted to binding arbitration by a three-member arbitration panel agreeable to the parties. The final decision of this arbitration panel shall be deemed binding and non-appealable and the parties may resort to the Superior Court of Arizona for enforcement thereof.

The Dinner ($25 per couple)

This is our 3nd Annual Dinner and Movie celebration of National Marriage Week and Valentine’s Day.

Tickets are $25.00 per couple for the dinner, and the movie is free. Dinner seating is limited to 200 couples, but this registration page may also be used to register children for child care. Child care for children of parents attending the dinner and movie, or just the movie, will be provided by the SOMA Young Adults, with a free will offering being taken for their summer missions projects.

Our movie this year is “Marriage Retreat” from PureFlix Pictures, the studio who brought us “What If?” last year. It features Jeff Fahey, Reginald Vel Johnson, and Victoria Jackson in this funny, heartfelt story about the difficulties many marriages face − and the simple solution.

A trio of unhappily married couples head to a mountain retreat where they are subjected to unorthodox and seemingly comical methods by Dr. Sullivan (Fahey) and his wife Katrina (Jackson). As the couples struggle through the program for marital bliss, they soon discover it’s not “What” they are missing from their lives but “Who.”

Currently, the United States has approximately 107,000* legal orphans waiting in foster care for adoptive families to call their own.  Most people simply do not realize America has orphans because we do not have orphanages.  These children live in temporary foster homes, move frequently from home to home, and have no permanency in their lives.  Unless they are adopted, they will exit or “age-out” of the system at age 18 and become adults who belong nowhere and have no personal connection with anyone.

Because of this, we are endeavoring to raise awareness of and recruit adoptive families for waiting children and youth in foster care.  Given the number of churches throughout the U.S., every waiting child could have a family if less than one family per church opened their home and hearts.  To that end, we are working collaboratively with state, county, church, and adoption agency leaders to help find families for waiting children and youth in foster care.

Why should I sponsor a child? Because we are seeing how child sponsorship can change a child’s life. One example of this life change can be seen in Fatina’s story.

What does being a child sponsor look like? What are the specific commitments?

1. Select a Child Sponsorship packet.
2. Complete and return your Sponsor Contact information sheet.
3. Pray regularly for your sponsored child.
4. Write to your sponsored child at least four times each year.
5. Pay $35 per month (check written to Scottsdale Bible Church by 1st of month).
6. Three year sponsorship commitment with 60 days notice should you need to terminate this sponsorship after that time period.

We have children waiting for Sponsors now so please pray for new Child Sponsors to come forward.

If you would like to support our ministry in Tanzania through prayer please consider joining our Tanzania Project Prayer Team. If you would like to communicate with your sponsored child we encourage you to do so as often as you like. You may send a letter to your child by emailing it to tanzania@scottsdalebible.com. We will print your letter and send it with a future short term mission team to Tanzania to give to your sponsored child.

Visit your sponsored child

If you would like to visit your sponsored child please pray about joining us on a future short term mission team to Tanzania. We have many teams that visit Tanzania each year. Family Nite Dinner Featuring Family Quest is a great way to share a friendly meal with your Scottsdale Bible family while enjoying an engaging, dramatic performance. This year’s theme, “The Ultimate Amazing Race,” will feature multiple stages—bringing the action closer to our families! Each dinner will feature a different menu, or you are welcome to bring your own meal and join us for a great time of community and family entertainment.

AWANA

AWANA is a super-fun weekday program for kids from age three through 6th grade that integrates high-energy games, lively worship and large group sessions, interactive small groups and more from September to May. The name AWANA comes from 2 Timothy 2:15 which says, “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed.” While they are having fun, children will not only learn to memorize key Bible verses that will forever be hidden in their hearts, but also will build new friendships and well-developed peer and leader relationships in the process. Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University

We are proud to offer the 13-week Financial Peace University class created by Dave Ramsey, noted financial and biblical advisor. This class is held at the Chapel two blocks east of the main campus. Worship Choir and Orchestra Rehearsal

Do you have a love of the Lord and a special talent in music? If so, our ministry is just for you! Our choir features over 100 vocalists and auditions are not required. For those wishing to join the orchestra, an audition is required and can be scheduled by calling 480.824.7317. We ask that everyone make at least two service commitments on Sundays and attend all rehearsals whenever possible. To find the rehearsal rooms, park in the south parking lot, come to the south patio and enter through the doors on the west end. From there, follow the sound of busy voices and laughter.
