Join in and improve your serve! Scottsdale Bible has planned to be the hands, feet, and voice of Christ on the last Saturday of each month in 2012. We are sending teams to our neighbors, to hospitals, elder care facilities, nearby schools, and to area businesses to identify needs and serve others! No special skills required, just a willingness to be kind and loving to others! Don’t miss your chance to be involved in this opportunity to let our surrounding community experience the love of Jesus. Sponsor a Child

At Scottsdale Bible we are reaching villages, one child at a time. Child sponsorship provides you with the opportunity to truly impact the life of a child, their family, and their entire village in Tanzania. Money raised through child sponsorship helps to meet your sponsored child’s most basic needs: better health, better education, and better income opportunities. The child sponsorship program works in conjunction with our other Tanzania Project initiatives to vastly improve the overall development and welfare of the community.

Why should I sponsor a child? Because we are seeing how child sponsorship can change a child’s life. One example of this life change can be seen in Fatina’s story.

What does being a child sponsor look like? What are the specific commitments?

Select a Child Sponsorship packet.
Complete and return your Sponsor Contact information sheet.
Pray regularly for your sponsored child.
Write to your sponsored child at least four times each year.
Pay $35 per month (check written to Scottsdale Bible Church by 1st of month).
Three year sponsorship commitment with 60 days notice should you need to terminate this sponsorship after that time period.

We have children waiting for Sponsors now so please pray for new Child Sponsors to come forward.

Pray for your sponsored child

If you would like to support our ministry in Tanzania through prayer please consider joining our Tanzania Project Prayer Team. Your personal time and commitment in praying for the Tanzania Project will make a huge difference. Learn more about how to get involved in the Tanzania Project Prayer Team.

Communicate with your sponsored child

If you would like to communicate with your sponsored child we encourage you to do so as often as you like. You may send a letter to your child by emailing it to tanzania@scottsdalebible.com. We will print your letter and send it with a future short term mission team to Tanzania to give to your sponsored child.

Visit your sponsored child

If you would like to visit your sponsored child please pray about joining us on a future short term mission team to Tanzania. We have many teams that visit Tanzania each year. Please review our Tanzania Teams Schedule and contact tanzania@scottsdalebible.com for more information on these mission teams.

Neighborhood Ministries helps meet tangible needs of impoverished families by giving “bucks for their volunteer work, which can be redeemed for essential items from the El Mercado Thrift Store. Please help restock the store with gently-used furniture (including baby and children’s) and household items (e.g., small kitchen appliances, rugs, etc.). Sunday, November 21, Frozen Turkey Drive

Help make this Thanksgiving a special day for families living in poverty. Our goal is 500 turkeys to be given to CHIEF Ministries and Phoenix Rescue Mission. Please drop off your turkey (s) at the large truck located in the south parking lot. You can also make checks payable to either CHIEF Ministries or Phoenix Rescue Mission (tax-deductible).

Saturday, December 4, Christmas in the Barrio

We are partnering with Neighborhood Ministries to bring the joy and message of Jesus Christ to families living in the Barrio. This outreach celebration will deeply touch many souls in Jesus’ name. We expect approximately 2,500 people from the inner-city to attend. Visit the tables located on the patio to sign up to serve and pick up a gift tag.

Saturday, January 22, Community Revitalization Impact Day

Join us for a day of service in conjunction with Luis Palau City Fest “Season of Service.” Help clean up parks and neighborhoods, graffiti removal, light construction projects and painting for widows, single moms, senior citizens and schools, deliver meals to the homebound and much more! Great family and group activity – we would like to see 1,000 from our church family serving the needs of our community.

Saturday, February 26, Homeless Impact Day

Spend a day serving by rehabbing supportive housing shelters. Then attend the Sleepless in Arizona event-an awareness opportunity to learn about homelessness-and engage with service providers.

March 19 and 20, Arizona City Fest with Luis Palau

This family-friendly festival will celebrate all that has been accomplished through the Season of Service. The festival celebration provides an incredible opportunity to invite friends and family to a world-class community event featuring live concerts by popular musicians, interactive children’s area, action sports demos, food court and hear the Good News presented by Luis Palau at Tempe Town Lake.

Christmas in the Barrio: Arizona City Fest, Season of Service
Saturday, December 4, 6:00–8:30 p.m.
Neighborhood Ministries, 1929 W. Fillmore St., Phoenix opportunity

Join us as we bring the joy and message of Jesus Christ to families living in the inner-city. We will celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior by providing a very special Christmas celebration that will include carnival games, food, activity booths, crafts, worship bands and much more! Help us be a blessing to those in need by serving at this event. We expect approx. 2,500 people from the surrounding community of Neighborhood Ministries so we need lots of volunteers! This is a great opportunity for families of all ages, enrichment classes and bible study groups to serve together.

PRM Water Drive

As the temperatures in the Valley climb into the triple digits, the Phoenix Rescue Mission is the primary agency tasked with providing heat relief to thousands on the street. Their Hope Coach canvasses Valley streets handing out water bottles as well as sack meals, clothes and shoes to the men and women on the streets. During the summer months bottled water is desperately needed—water saves lives!

PRM Backpack Drive Update

Phoenix Rescue Mission called today to let us know that they are “so very grateful” for all of the backpacks and school supplies donated by our congregation as part of the July Phoenix Rescue Mission Back-to-School Drive. The Phoenix Rescue Mission staff was “amazed at the awesome job done by Scottsdale Bible Church.”

Scottsdale Bible donations:

247 backpacks filled with list of school supplies
408 additional backpacks
135 $15 gift cards for shoes
An assortment of additional school supplies
$200 cash and checks which will be used to purchase additional items needed

St. Mary’s Food Bank Drive Update

Our Arizona Hunger Campaign food drive for St. Mary’s Food Bank on Sunday June 20 was a tremendous success. Thank you for your generous donations. We donated 92 gaylord bins containing over 65,400 pounds of food and $13,460 in cash and check donations. Every dollar received enables St. Mary’s Food Bank to deliver enough food for seven meals, meaning the cash will provide an additional 94,220 pounds of food. Between food donations and cash and check donations we were able to donate a total of 159,620 pounds of food. We are so thankful that God has provided such an incredible quantity of food donations through His faithful people at Scottsdale Bible. This abundance of food will allow us to show many hungry people in the Valley the love of Jesus in a very tangible way.

We would like to give a special thank you to all of the wonderful volunteers who served at this food drive. It took over 100 hard working volunteers to collect all of these food donations from our congregation. High school and junior high students going on summer mission teams helped with our morning services and did an outstanding job of quickly gathering donations to keep our parking lot traffic flowing smoothly. Somanorth young adults volunteered for our evening service and helped us finish our drive strong.
