Missions 2012 Application

Are you interested in participating in a short-term mission trip with the High School Ministry? Please fill out the application below by Wednesday, November 2nd. It’s important to know that you are not guaranteed your first or second choice, but we will do everything possible to place you on a trip that is the best fit for you. If you submit your application after midnight on November 2nd, please be ready to explain why.

After your application has been submitted you will be contacted by a member of the interview committee, to meet with you, get to know you, and to ask you a few questions to help better place you on a team.

Student Ministry Family Night

Club 56, Impact and High School ministries will gather for an evening of baseball, friends and fun as we watch the Arizona Diamondbacks take on the Houston Astros.

Bring your friends and family and meet us at Chase Field for a great night at the ballpark.

Argentina Team Update 2

Sunday was another relaxed day as we prepared and rested for our trip to Colón. We spent the day with our host families, then went to the evening church service at Iglesia La Puerta Abierta. Following the service, we had dinner as a team while we waitied for the bus to take us to Colón; we departed at 1:00 a.m. for our 6 hour bus ride.

For the most part, the guys did the manual labor, while the girls prepared some crafts and activities for the kids in what they called “Dia de Amigos!”. We brought bags filled with soccer balls, plastic toys and other toys to share with the children. The entire team did an outstanding job with their work today. Among the cementing, picking up trash, moving/shoveling rock, laying concrete, etc, the team accomplished it all with a great attitude, and with their hearts in the right place.

Here is the list of projects we completed:

Fill-in what will be the foundation for a new room
Break-up and remove an old concrete pathway
Re-concrete the pathway over an area
Cement an external wall
Clean trash from an elderly home

Argentina Team Update

The team arrived safely in Buenos Aires, Argentina this morning, Saturday, July 11, around 7:30 a.m. local time after a 15 hour journey including a two-hour layover in Dallas. We were greeted by brisk 32 degree weather, yet warm open arms of the families at our host church, Iglesia La Puerta Abierta. After breakfast and a quick nap, most of us had the opportunity to explore the city, as our afternoon was free until the youth church service at 9 p.m.

Diego, the youth pastor, introduced us at the church service this evening. It was a great way for the team to connect with the other staff and students. After the service, most of us went to the local mall for dinner, and yes, dinner lasted until 2 a.m.

At this point, we’ve been on-the-go since leaving Phoenix; our ministry work begins at the start of the week. Please keep the team in your prayers, specifically that we may be well-rested, ready to work, and helpful to the people in Argentina.
