Membership and Baptism

Membership

Scottsdale Bible Church encourages, but does not require, membership. Scottsdale Bible Church does not recieve transfer of membership from other churches. If you are interested in becoming a member at Scottsdale Bible Church we offer Class 100-200-300 as the first step in the process. At the end of this class you will be given the option to become a member. At this time, you may apply for membership in writing. The application should be signed by the applicant and include a clear profession of faith in Christ.

Eligibility

Each person applying for membership is required to accept the church’s Statement of Faith and agree to be governed by the published rules of the church. Persons at any age who have made a confession of faith in Christ are eligible to be considered for membership by the Elder Board. Only members who are at least 18 years old may vote at the time of a church-wide vote.

Procedure

Discipline, termination and restoration may be carried out if necessary by the affirmative vote of at least two-thirds of the Elder Board. Church discipline shall be carried out according to Biblical directives (i.e., Matthew 18:15–20; I Corinthians 5:1–13; Galatians 6:1–2; II Thessalonians 3:14–15; James 5:19–20) and according to the discipline policy for Scottsdale Bible Church.

Baptism

We practice full immersion, administered to those individuals who have made a personal profession of faith in Jesus Christ. Every member is encouraged to observe this ordinance. Candidates for baptism must attend a baptism class. Public baptisms are conducted six times each year.
