Executive Leadership Team
Jamie Rasmussen, Senior Pastor
Jamie Rasmussen was called to be the Senior Pastor of Scottsdale Bible Church in the fall of 2007. As the primary teacher at our weekend worship services, Jamie also acts as the primary vision-caster for the church and is ultimately responsible to the elders for the health and growth of all our ministries and staff.
Jamie holds an earned Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion and Psychology from Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Michigan, as well as an earned Master of Divinity degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois. He has been an ordained pastor for almost 20 years and has served growing churches in Detroit, Michigan, London, Ontario (Canada) and Cleveland, Ohio.
With evident gifts in teaching and leadership, Jamie brings a unique combination of well-reasoned research, life experience and authentic application to his teaching. Believing deeply in both reason and biblical revelation, he loves to understand and apply the truths of the Bible to everyday life. Having a driving passion for the local church, Jamie’s leadership style is both visionary and strategic. More than all of this however, Jamie loves God and commits every day to helping those around him understand and know God on a deeper level.
Understanding that “leaders are readers,” Jamie can be found reading books simultaneously in four categories: theology, leadership, cultural/societal trends, and history. To keep his mind somewhat sane, he regularly reads the latest best-sellers in fiction. His current favorites are John Grisham and Clive Cussler.
Jamie is married to his wife, Kim, and together they have three adult children. He and his family love to hike together, explore remote areas (preferably in a rugged 4×4) and are connoisseurs of great action movies.
Scott Anderson, Executive Pastor
After twenty years serving at a large, multi-site church in Minnesota, Scott became Scottsdale Bible’s Executive Pastor in fall 2016. He oversees our staff and programs under the leadership of Senior Pastor Jamie Rasmussen. Scott likes to say that his 17 years of experience leading people and processes at McDonald’s Corporation followed by 20 years at Eagle Brook Church in Lino Lakes, Minnesota, have given him just the right mix of experience and opportunity to be led to Arizona and Scottsdale Bible Church. In his previous role, he was instrumental in helping grow the church from one campus and 1,200 people to six campuses and more than 22,000 people every weekend. Scott and his wife, Sarah, have been married for 30 years and have three adult children and two amazing grandchildren who, at least so far, still live in the frozen north.
Ken joined Scottsdale Bible’s leadership team in fall 2014 to further the vision and mission of our church. Prior to joining the staff, he served as the Executive Pastor of Mountain Valley Church for two years, which is now our newest multisite campus. Ken brings a wealth of management experience combined with years of service in the local church as an elder and pastoral leader. His business career includes leadership roles in the aerospace, defense and electric power industries. He has the honor of being named the first Chief Innovation Officer in Corporate America and in 2006, received the CIO of the Year Stevie Award. Ken holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State and an MBA from the University of Iowa, and is currently attending Phoenix Seminary. In his words, he has failed at retirement twice and is settled to the fact that he is a lifelong learner of God’s Word…and golf. He and his wife, Sandy, have known each other since kindergarten, have been married for 42 years, and both trusted Christ as Savior on December 28, 1981. They have two daughters, two sons-in-law, and six grandchildren who live here in the Valley.
Troy Peterson, Worship and Creative Arts
Troy’s passion is to bring people into God’s presence through worship and music. Prior to coming to Scottsdale Bible Church as Pastor of Worship and Creative Arts, he spent 12 years in a large church in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, as their Worship Arts Pastor. His solid breadth and depth of experience in leading worship, directing and producing events with a broad worship and creative arts program is evident.
While in Pennsylvania, Troy provided pastoral and creative leadership to 40 musicians and 140 vocalists along with his worship and tech staff. He was an integral part of their Easter and Christmas productions—seen by over 11,000 annually—produced other large, high-attendance events, and hosted nationally-known artists. Additionally, he and his team undertook several recording projects. Troy served on a four-person executive team for design and development of a $20 million facility expansion (including a 2,500 seat sanctuary), which was completed in 2004.
Troy is a strategic visionary, able to put feet to a vision; he is grace-filled and outstanding at building relationships; he is a deep thinker, a man who passionately loves God and his family—intentionally growing in his faith and leadership.
Troy and his wife Wendy have three daughters, Brooklyn, Chamberlain and Peyton.
