Dear Scottsdale Bible Family,

As you read this year’s annual report you will be struck with how BIG your church truly is and HOW MUCH ACTIVITY goes on here each week. In fact, it is NOT uncommon
for me to drive onto our campus on any given day and see all kinds of cars and one of my teenagers will ask, “What is going on here today?” and I say, “I haven’t the foggiest idea—how can I keep up with it all!”

From Men’s/Women’s Ministry to Enrichment Classes to Missions to
Youth/Children activities to our Counseling/Marriage Ministries to Worship Arts to our Second Half Ministry to our Young Adults (soma) Ministry to countless service projects to evangelism and so much more—the list seems endless when it comes to all that our church does to win, build and send here in the Valley of the Sun and beyond!

But here’s the deal: as you read each of our brief ministry reports, please realize that amidst all of the activity there are INDIVIDUAL LIVES being
touched and transformed by God’s Holy Spirit! Individuals are hearing/learning truth; they are confessing sin; they are getting right with God; they are mending broken relationships; they are learning to pray; they are gaining hope; they are inwardly trusting God; they are learning to love—in short, plenty of DEFINING MOMENTS are occurring amidst all the activity going on around here—and isn’t that what it’s all about?!

2 Corinthians 3:18 says, “And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.”

So here is what I am learning once again: ACTIVITY is one thing but TRANSFORMATION is another! And the good news is that BOTH are happening at our church and for that I am eternally gratefully to God.
