Jesus commanded us to “love your neighbor as yourself” and told us to be concerned for the interests of others. Being a neighbor to someone is not limited to family relations or proximity. It is showing the love of God to all who are in need, who ever they may be, wherever they may be.
Often in order to reach people for Christ, personal and tangible needs must be met before people become receptive to the Gospel. Jesus demonstrated this by helping the poor, hungry, hurting, crippled and blind. Scripture has made it clear that the body of Christ needs to be engaged in ministry to those less fortunate.
There are many ways that you can “be a neighbor” to those that are in need. Discover how your generous contribution of time and energy will benefit the lives of others less fortunate and bring glory to God. Start living the life God created you for!
